Inspiration and Colour Palettes

We create inspiration and colour boards for each collection of caps. This can range from natural sources to song lyrics or films.

At KM we don’t follow seasons and we encourage our designers to follow their own intuition and inspiration rather than the trends.

This is much more creative, fun and sustainable- so win win for everyone!

A big part of our design process is creating design and inspiration boards which help us to decide on colours, fabrics, linings and cap names. Each year we create a collection with past themes ranging from Iconic Musicians, Birds, Yorkshire places and The Caribbean.

Fabrics and Suppliers

We only use locally woven fabrics from Yorkshire Mills. Yorkshire is historically known as a ‘Mill Region’ and has had a long history of woollen textiles manufacture. Woollen mills such as AW Hainsworth, Abraham Moons and Bateman and Ogden have been at the heart of Yorkshire textiles production since the 1800s.

We are so lucky to have great working relationships with our local mills who provide us with so many choices in colours, patterns and weights. It is a privilege to go into the mills and see the fabrics in production, meet the talented operatives and see new styles appearing every season.

Factories and Manufacturers

Our caps are all manufactured in Castleford, West Yorkshire by a talented team of hat makers. The small business is a family run business which specialises in traditional high quality hat making. They are great at adapting to new ideas and styles, always producing such beautiful caps no matter the fabric or design.
